All About Oval Engagement Rings

An oval engagement ring features an oval-shaped lab grown diamond or gemstone as the center and can be set in various settings. Oval-cut rings are popular for engagements due to their versatile, elegant, classic shape. Due to its elongated design, ovals complement various hand shapes and finger sizes, making this a safe (and stunning) choice for your beloved.

What Shape Is an Oval Cut Engagement Ring?

Oval engagement rings are similar to a round cut in that they have a symmetrical shape, but the body is elongated rather than circular. The oval cut can vary in length-to-width ratio, with some oval cuts appearing more elongated and others appearing more rounded. Their unique shape displays a brilliant cut faceting style that produces high sparkle and brightness. An oval-cut engagement ring is a popular choice because it can create the illusion of a larger stone and has a unique, elegant shape.

What Sizes Do Oval Cut Stones Come Available?

Our collection of oval engagement rings ranges in stone sizes from 1.5 carats - 3.72 carats.

What Is the Average Price for an Oval Engagement Ring?

Our oval-cut rings range from $2,050 - $8,200. The prices will vary based on the stone type, carat weight, and design features. We offer a wide variety of stone options from ethical lab-created diamonds, sapphires, white moissanite, grey moissanite & conflict-free minded diamonds from the US and Canada.

What Stone Settings Are Common With Oval Engagement Rings?

Oval engagement rings can be made in various designs and settings, ranging from classic to more intricate styles with additional stones. Some popular styles for oval engagement rings include prong, bezel, halo, and three-stone settings.

While there are many popular style options in our collection, we offer a variety of antique-inspired oval engagement rings with diamond halos as the stone setting.

However, if a diamond halo is not your style, we offer more minimal modern oval engagement rings with classic prong settings.

What Wedding Bands Are Recommended for Oval Engagement Rings?

Although wedding bands are sold separately from each engagement ring, we offer a wide variety of styles that will pair perfectly with your new oval engagement ring. However, it’s imperative to be conscious of what type of wedding band will work visually and functionally to preserve and not damage your oval engagement ring when stacked together.

With a large variety of oval cut engagement ring designs offered in our collection, we recommend contacting Kristin for pairing recommendations of bands after selecting an oval engagement ring design.

What Do Oval Rings Symbolize?

Oval rings can symbolize various things depending on the context in which they are worn and the personal significance of the wearer. Some common symbolism associated with oval rings includes:

  • Love and commitment: Oval rings are often chosen as engagement or wedding rings because their shape symbolizes eternal devotion.
  • Creativity and uniqueness: The oval shape is less common than the round or square shapes, making it a symbol of creativity and individuality.
  • Beauty: The oval shape is often seen as elegant and graceful, which can make it a symbol of beauty.

Overall, the symbolism of an oval ring will depend on the wearer, as the true symbolism of any jewelry is unique to each individual.

Do Oval Cut Diamonds Chip Easily?

If you are concerned about chipping an engagement ring, avoiding stone cuts and shapes with points or sharp corners and edges is best. Thanks to the oval and round edges of oval cut stones, they are far harder to chip or damage due to the lack of sharp edges or corners. It's also important to remember to remove rings when engaging in activities that could damage or compromise the ring's integrity, such as heavy manual labor or sports.
