Kristin Coffin's jewelry is crafted with the utmost care, using the finest materials. Kristin is committed to using environmentally friendly studio practices, as well as recycled precious metals, and conflict-free diamonds and gems in all her jewelry.
Gold mining is a highly toxic process, creating social and environmental devastation. To combat this degradation, Kristin chooses to use recycled gold and silver, rather than newly-mined metals. The metals are reclaimed from old jewelry or industrial parts and then professionally refined to the same quality as newly-mined metals. Most metals used in Kristin’s work are 100% recycled (save for a few findings and other tiny components).
All diamonds and gemstones are sourced from reputable US and Canadian vendors who pledge to only supply diamonds traded in accordance with the Kimberley Process. The Kimberley Process is a strict certification system supported by the United Nations ensuring conflict-free diamond trading.
Larger white diamonds (half-carat and over) come with a grading report (such as GIA or EGL) which includes a conflict-free statement. Smaller white diamonds (under half-carat) may only have the certification written on the original wholesale invoice from her trusted vendor. If you'd like your smaller diamond to come with grading report, contact Kristin and she would be happy to source a certified diamond for you. (Non-certified diamonds are much lower in price; the certified diamond will be more costly.)
In the continual quest for a unique and eco-friendly aesthetic, Kristin also uses recycled and antique diamonds, and the ultimate environmentally-friendly gem, moissanite.
Kristin is very careful in her selection of diamond and gemstone vendors, making sure to use only those whom she built strong and trusting relationships with over the years. This helps to ensure the stones are conflict-free and in compliance with Kimberley Process. A step further toward ensuring conflict-free diamonds is to pinpoint the source -- something very tricky to do in the diamond industry. Diamonds mined from Canada are a wonderful way to track their origin, but they are pricier than their non-Canadian counterparts. This price is offset greatly for smaller stones purchased in larger parcels, so Kristin is proud to offer strictly Canadian diamonds in all her wedding bands (flush-set and bead-set styles).
If you'd like a larger Canadian diamond in an engagement ring, such as in her half-carat ring styles, contact Kristin with your request. Pricing will be higher than a non-Canadian diamond, but she is happy to source one for you.
Happiness with your jewelry is top priority. Kristin prides herself not only on exceptional jewelry, but the best customer service as well. In the extremely rare event that there seems to a defect with any piece, simply contact Kristin.
All Kristin Coffin jewelry is meticulously handcrafted from the finest materials, with highest standards of quality. There is a warranty on the craftsmanship of all jewelry, which covers workmanship defects for one year from purchase date. The warranty excludes coverage for wear and tear, abuse, loss of stones, and theft. If your jewelry becomes damaged through negligence, or beyond the first year of purchase, repairs can be done for a fee.
For those situations not related to manufacturing defects, it is always recommended to purchase your own insurance. Insurance can be purchased as a rider under your homeowner's or renter's policy, or through a separate jewelry insurance firm, such as Jeweler's Mutual. Their insurance will help recover damaged, lost or stolen jewelry. Your order will come with a Care guide which outlines proper care and insurance tips within.
