Do Pear Shaped Engagement Ring Look Bigger?

Because of their elongated shape, pear-shaped diamonds can appear larger than round diamonds of the same carat weight. However, the overall size of a pear-shaped diamond will depend on its carat weight and the specific dimensions of the stone.

Are pear shaped diamonds more expensive?

In general, pear-shaped diamonds tend to be more expensive than round diamonds of the same size and quality. Because pear-shaped diamonds are less common and more challenging to cut than round diamonds, they are rare and more valuable. However, the price of a pear-shaped diamond will also depend on other factors such as its carat weight, clarity, color, and overall quality.

History of pear shaped engagement rings

Pear-shaped engagement rings have a long and rich history dating back to the 15th century. Pear-shaped diamonds were first created by Lodewyk van Berquem of Belgium, a Flemish diamond cutter known for inventing the diamond-polishing wheel called a scaif.

Pear Shaped stones became popular in the Art Deco period of the 1920s and have remained a classic choice for engagement rings to this day.
